Not For Sale DTS

This is not my sister.

On January 13, 2011 I will be leaving to embark on a five month long mission trip to work with an organization called YWAM, Youth With A Mission, and partner with the 'Not For Sale Campaign' to help in efforts to end contemporary slavery.  During the first 3 months I will be on base learning about things like how to hear God's voice and the father heart of God. Just as well, I will be working Youth Street: a weekend event the kids in the community come to. I will also be helping in areas of service while in Australia.

After that, I will go on outreach where I will be an ambassador of Christ, showing God's kingdom to those in need. I could do anything from visiting shelters for women who have survived human sex trafficking, to building the shelters, to talking to those who need to be put in shelters. However the Lord leads. Here is YWAM's description of the NFS DTS:

Slavery thrives in the shadows. An estimated 27 million people live in bondage today – yet we know about the plight of so few of them. The battle to end slavery begins by revealing it. The ‘Not For Sale’ Discipleship Training School is a partnership with the ‘Not For Sale Campaign’ to see an abolition of the modern day slave trade.
That baby IS in fact naked.
I will be part of making a difference in a unique DTS. Be on the front lines as we stand with those who are enslaved and work together to empower them in their freedom to break the cycle of vulnerability.
